Ruslam’s Atelier
He is an artist from Mongolia, now living in Alfama. He says that history is embedded in all of his work.
His space is not just a shop, but a place shaped by time.
Alfama is a historic neighborhood filled with diverse cultures.
Mongolian and Angolan identities, along with Arab influences, come together to form a cultural crossroads.
He loves music, and he loves art. He carefully keeps a book that holds a family project passed down for over a hundred years.
He always asks his customers for their names, then writes them on postcards in Mongolian pronunciation and hands them back to them.
I admire the way he never forgets his identity.
He also paints using coffee and wine—though for now, he jokes that the wine is in his belly.
To Ruslam, with love.
